Jeep Lift Kits – Jeep Parts to Boost Your Off-Road Clearance

The aggressive stance you get from a lifted Jeep is like no other. Even though Jeep lift kits aren't a necessary component to make your Jeep run, in many cases these Jeep parts will really help your Jeep operate efficiently. Amongst others, there are two main reasons to add a lift kit onto your Jeep:

  1. Larger Tires – Maybe you want to get the maximize performance out of your Jeep, or maybe you just like the look. No matter the reason, increasing the tire size is a popular choice on Jeeps. But all vehicles are built with a specific tire size in mind, which is where Jeep lift kits come in. These Jeep parts will raise the body of the vehicle to give more space for a larger tire, so it won't rub against the body and cause wear and tear that can easily be avoided.

  2. Ground Clearance – Jeep lift kits don't just make room for the tires; these Jeep parts also give you more space between the bottom of the Jeep and the ground. This is incredibly important if you're someone who likes to do a lot of off-roading – especially rock crawling. The last thing you want is for the bottom of your Jeep to get scraped up from a bunch of jagged rocks, or get stuck on top of a rock that was a little too big to clear. Installing a Jeep lift kit will give you those precious few extra inches that can make all the difference.

If you're ready to make the commitment and install a Jeep lift kit, there a two main types to choose from:

  1. Body Lift Kits – These Jeep parts will generally provide an extra 1-3 inches by lifting the body up from the frame.
    • Lower cost – Great for the economical consumer
    • Doesn't improve/alter the suspension
    • Easy to install
  2. Suspension Lift Kits – These Jeep parts replace the front/rear springs and shocks.
    • More expensive but will improve ride quality
    • Better clearance to allow for awesome rock crawling
    • Improved articulation
    • May need steering stabilizers

No matter which you choose, it's important to keep in mind that when you raise your ride with these Jeep parts it will change the center of gravity. The higher you lift it, the less stable the Jeep will be so take caution before installing a Jeep lift kit above 4 inches.
