Charitable Donations by 4WD Heating Up in Summer

Summertime means bikini tops and open midriffs. Of course, we’re talking about Jeeps. Off-road activities heat up during the summer months and 4WD Hardware is responding to the challenge by upping the company’s charitable donations to various causes, clubs, jamborees and 4x4 events.

“Sponsoring activities gives us another chance to get involved and give back to the Jeep community in a big way,” says Kelly Young, 4WD Internet Manager. “Whether the cause is related to curing a specific illness or an individual’s medical condition or a fun event, we know that donations of all sorts and sizes count.”

In early June, the Camp MJ Military Jeepers event received two $100 gift cards, 50 stickers and 50 key chains from 4WD. The Spring Northeast Ohio Off-Road Jamboree presented by The Lake County Off-Road Conservation Inc. (LCOR) received a similar donation.

The Crawl to Cure Cancer travels across the country to various Jeep-related trips and shows to raise money for cancer research. Kelly Young started the project when she lost her mother to a brief battle with colon and liver cancer in 2008. 4WD has graciously stepped up to be a major contributor and annual events where donations are raised include the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival, and the 4 Wheel Drive Hardware Jamboree in September.

“We definitely could not do The Crawl to Cure Cancer without the help and support of 4 Wheel Drive Hardware,” says Kelly. “With their help on the donations and sending us to these various Jeep events it inspires programs like mine and others out there using our hobby to do good in this world.”

Big Rubber 4x4 in Pennsylvania holds Amelia’s Angels, a trail ride to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Amelia Dunbar was born with the DF508 mutation of cystic fibrosis and her father organized the event as a fundraiser toward researching and finding a cure. “4WD has been a supporting vendor for Amelia’s Angels Trail Ride since the first ride last year,” says Ryan Dunbar. “They’ve donated a winch and gift certificates and have given great support to our ride.”

4WD is donating a Smittybilt XRC8 winch for the July 21-28 FMCA 4 Wheelers Rally in Lander, Wyoming. “We’ve mentioned the winch to several people and they are happy and very surprised at 4WD’s generosity,” says Sandi Powers of FMCA 4 Wheelers. “We’re a great club and we’ve grown so much in the past two years. This donation gives us depth and support.”

Of course, the wheels are spinning on Jeep club events and medical causes throughout the year and 4WD’s charitable donations aren’t limited to summertime. The off-road community has a wide range of personalities, but when it’s time to band together for a cause no one comes together like jeepers.
