Smittybilt Quick Release Trail Mirrors are the perfect answer for everyone who loves taking their doors off without the hassle of changing out their mirrors.
If you take the doors off then chances are you need to have side mirrors. These work great, they are easy to install, and they keep you street legal. The only "complaint" that I would have is a little bit of a whistling noise while driving. However, the doors and top are off so its a little noisy anyway, just don't freak out and think there is something wrong if you hear a whistle.
A great alternative to door mounted mirrors. Nothing like driving my Jeep without doors or with soft doors and these mirrors are great!
Can't see out of passenger side. Sticks out to far. Flimsy made. Looks cheap.
These are great mirrors that are easy to attach. I've read some reviews that complain about mirrors being flat and not adjustable. To fix the flat mirror, a cheap blind spot mirror can be added to the surface of the mirror and problem solved. As far as them not adjustable is inaccurate. You can leave one of the adjustment screws on back of mirrors slightly loose to allow for mirror adjustment. You can also leave arm attachment screw just so slightly loose to allow for arm adjustment.
Let me start off by saying these are simple and do the job they were intended for. They're not intended, as I found out after removing my factory mirrors, for daily use. If you happen to live anywhere where it rains 290+ days out of the year, you happen to have your doors on quite often. With the doors off you have a clear shot view of both mirrors. Doors on however, you can't see the passenger side one much if at all. Anyway long story short they're great for the trail and for any other day without doors. They're quick enough to remove that you can keep your factory mirrors on the doors and just pull off the trail mirrors when you have the doors on. The only other thing I'm not a super big fan of is the fact that they're flat. I feel you would have a little less blind spot with a convex mirror or just an extra inch in diameter. The wind noise, I could care less about, in reality if you have a Jeep with a soft top and any kind of knobby tire, the little bit of extra wind noise isn't going to kill you. All in all a good product.
The mirrors work well enough, the quick release brackets are great for switching back and forth from hard to soft doors. When you remove the mirrors the hard doors can operate without removing the mounting bracket (big plus). Only thing I would like to see changed is a more positive stop on the mirror arms at the bracket, so if your door bumps it, or while your driving the mirrors hold their position better.
its a cheap and easy to make it legal..
The mirrors and mounting hardware seem well designed and rugged. The photos in the instructions were very dark however, making it hard to see what they were trying to illustrate. One issue I had was in trying to remove the number 40 torx head bolts from the side of my 2006 Wrangler. I had to use an air wrench to get them loose. Do yourself a favor and start with the air wrench, never mind a regular ratchet. Once the bolts were out, the install was a snap, quick and easy. One issue I've noticed though, is that once I reach about 30 mph, I'm getting a whistling sound from both of them.
I've had these mirrors on my 2013 JK for about two weeks. The mounts have rubber pads so as not to scratch the paint. The plastic bushing are serrated to lock the mirror adjustment in. No movement or vibration at highway speeds. I recommend this product.
Can these mirrors be left on (maybe folded away) when my doors are on, so I don't have to install / uninstall every time I run without doors? Thank you. 2015 JK Sport

Bruce, the Smittybilt Trail Mirrors can be left on with the doors. I hope this helps!

According to the picture the mount is on the top windshield screws, can they be placed at the lower screws just at the hood height. And I'd like to know if they really do stay in place. I have purchased another kind and they flop over in highway speeds. I don't worry about any extra noise because my tires will cover that. Thanks I'm driving a 2010 Rubicon 2 door

Hi Cassrnc, Yes, you can mount these trail mirrors from Smittybilt on the lower portion of the hinge if you prefer. They are very stable at highway speed and are a high quality pair of mirrors. Thank you for the inquiry!

I have an 09 jeep wrangler sahara. I am looking for a good set of mirrors I can run when I take my doors off. I want something for the trail and highway when I am door less.

Hi Ridindirty, This trail mirror kit from Smittybilt works great on the Wrangler's when the doors are removed. They install easily and stay in place at highway speeds and on the trail. Thanks for the inquiry!
