It went on easy did not have to drop my gas tank for this one looks good to nice and steardy
I received the bumper the next day! Fast shipping! But, the finish was badly damaged during shipping... the box was totally destroyed, but the hardware to install was in its own box stuck to the bumper... so I had all the correct bolts and washers. I do like the look this bumper provides. Be aware that most of the pictures of this bumper make it look like a full length unit... it is not. It is the perfect length to cover the body of the jeep only. It does not stick out past the sides(some pictures make it look as wide as the fenders on the jeep). I would recommend this bumper to anyone looking for a high clearance mid length bumper. I only gave 4 stars do to the damage done during shipping. I will need to do some touch up to the bumper in several places.
Got this rear bumper for my 89 Jeep.. I got it so I can add the tire carrier later on.. so I just have to bumper with the tire carrier option.. I love this bumper looks so good.. I took it to a shop and they put it on.. I herd it was a pain to install and quiet heavy for one person.. it’s a nice solid bumper.. looks good on a yj..
Just what they say it is , only down fall was inner frame brackets were not in box , had to fab my own .
Bought this to replace the "bumperettes" and it looks good on the jeep, with that being said it was a "pain" to install. the easy was I already had the gas tank off so I had good access to the bolts and nuts. here's where the quality control issue reared it head the mounting brackets were not paralell with each other or the length of the bumper, I had to have my wife stand on it as i smacked it with a 16lb hammer to try to line them up. I got them close and bolted it up loosely so I could mark the inner bolt holes no easy way to mark the centers so I ended up with oversized holes. I got it all bolted up and tightened up but it's still not exactly paralell with the rear of the jeep. but if you are not to much of a perfectionist it works fine.
Took a long time to install and had to drill new holes into frame. Custom install. If you have a pole barn or garage with tools you shouldn't have any issues. This is not something you could install in an AutoZone parking lot. Looks great and very durable.
Great price and the bumper looks real cool. Took about an hour to install and the instructions were super easy to follow.
The installation instructions are vague but really not needed. The 4 center holes don't line up with the factory frame holes. Had to remove the muffler to drill them out. Predrilling prior to installation not worth the effort due to the lack of uniformity of the hole pattern on the new bumper. If you predrill I suggest you go big...really big. I am happy with the bumper once it was correctly installed. Took 4 hours.
Obviously far superior than stock and price was not too bad. I bought it for the tow hitch, anchor points, and added body protection but it also makes a nice shelf to use while loading gear in the back and a great step to stand on to access roof. I would have preferred it stuck out just a little farther to protect against the spare being driven into the tail gate with any rear end impacts but I will get a bump plate insert to remedy that. Not really a walk in the park to install due to bolting access but not too difficult overall. I would not hesitate to buy this bumper again for my next jeep.
This is a very good looking bumper, it was given to me by my wife as a present. Following the tips that I read on this website, I drilled the receiver holes out to 1/2". The only issue I had with it is the fact that the install was much harder and time consuming than what was stated in the instructions. After using every trick in the book to get the 8 bolt holes to line up; I was only able to get 6 bolts in the bumper. The two bolts on oppsite ends of the receiver mount had to be drilled out to complete the install. Another tip, go ahead and remove the muffler it will make the task easier.
So this will replace my stock bumper and hitch? Will it have the same towing capacity as my current hitch?

I see two questions asking about towing, one answer says no it's not rated for towing. Yet another answer says it is. Which one is it?
