Keep your vehicle street legal with extended fender flares from Smittybilt.
Smittybilt's fender flares are 6 inches wide and are fabricated from UV stable ABS plastic. This ABS plastic is strong enough for the trail and looks good enough for the city streets. Its durable construction allows Smittybilt Fender Flares to be flexible without cracking. Bolt it on or paint it first to match your Jeep these UV stable ABS plastic is weather and fade resistant to last year after year.
Quick delivery. Good quality product. Installation instructions and hardware all there. Took less than 1 hour to install both RH and LH rear fender flares.
Installed rear fender only so far - used fender washers on o/s to reinforce the plastic cap nut that is to keep the fender from tearing off body. The washers bend nicely with groove shape and painted black blends in fine. The bad - some of the OEM bolts are pressure fit and you have to pop them out. Next, the front bolt is accessible by a 2 " drain hole for the nut. I used dbl side tape to hold the nut to finger tip, but tough to match up as fender holes not aligned to flare. You should start front to back. Next, 2nd hole back used a stainless steel screw as existing hole was too small. Definitely resist tightening bolts until all aligned. otherwise, was easy install under an hour R&R time.
I bought these because they were in stock and in my budget and I needed a set of flares to get through inspections. I thought they would be good, but... The screws pull through if you over tighten just a fraction of a hair. The holes don't exactly line up to the holes in the body and the holes in the platic elongate easily. The plastic caps snap on well, but the bolt will easily pull through if you tighten just a SHADE too much. I don't anticipate this set holding together long. It should get me through inspections and down the road a bit, then I will buy the ones I want later. I hate buying twice.
I found this product to be of poor quality. Although they look nice the plastic theses are made of is not sufficient to hold the fasters provided. I followed the directions carefully and "exactly" as stated not to over tighten while installing. Before the screw penitrated the fender the screw pulled through the cap retainer and the fender flare screw opening stamped into the fender. The rubber spacer's were the issue as the screw grabs the spacer before they will begin to enter into the drilled holes in the body. I was dissapointed with the quality and retuned them for a refund.
Look great on my TJ and look awesome when painted to match top. front fenders go on very easy but rear ones are harder to install. When you install the rear flares they sit lower than stock ones so you can see the outline of the old stock fender flares.
FRONT FIT PRETTY GOOD, I USED LARGER WASHERS, BUT THE REAR SET LOWER THEN THE FACTORY FLARES SO YOU COULD SEE WHERE THE OLD FLARE WAS IN THE PAINT AND DOES NOT MATCH UP TO THE DIAMOND PLATE THAT IS ON THE CORNERS AND LOWER ROCKERS
These fenders were of cheap construction. I had to purchase washers to reinforce the fenders, otherwise the screws and provided washers would pull through the plastic. They are listed as off road use but even with the reinforcement the fenders partially tore off just going through light branches on an unmaintained road in Massachusetts. They are great for highway use and mall crawlers that will never see a trail. Stay away if you wheel off road!!!
BUY BUSHWACKER FLARES MORE MONEY BUT WORTH IT FOUR SURE....
I got the flares with no problem from 4 wheel drive but I waited to long to install them wich burdened me later. when I went to install them they 1st came with these black caps wich defeated my whole purpose of getting pocket flairs. I expected a crome finish like the pics. then I went to install and the front set and they barely fit and torked out of shape. then the back ones wern't even close! couldnt even drill new holes because it exposed existing holes. they where just to small like they where in the dryer to long! And smittybuilt just gave me the run around and told me I wasnt installing them rite and to e-mal pics wich I never heard back from, so im stuck with plastic junk! very disapointed to say the least. I even tried to have my body shop at work install them and they just laughed.
very poor fit on rear would not even use them on a nice clean jeep anybody looking at buying them please dont waste your time and money on smittybilt flares buy bushwacker they fit nice and do last test of time unlike smitty[*]
