What is the capacity of this rack? How much weight can it hold? Thank you.

Mike, the Smittybilt Defender Rack Roof Rack Mounting Kit is just the mounting kit for the Defender rack. However, the rack itself will hold 300lbs; any more than that and you run the risk of changing the center of gravity of the vehicle too much to be safe. Hoep this helps!

How do these mount to the hardtop? I have seen Jeeps online that have mounts for the Defender roof rack that mount to the back glass hinge. Do these mount that way? If not which ones do I need? I have a 2011 Wrangler Unlimited. Thank you

Hi Justin, This Smittybilt Defender Rack Roof Rack Mounting Kit is designed to enable you to attach the Smittybilt rack to your factory hardtop. Once this mounting kit is screwed onto your top, the rack is easy to take on and off. Thanks for your inquiry.

Hi Roger, This Smittybilt Defender Rackj Roof Rack Mounting Kit for Jeep is the correct one for the XJ with the factory roof rack, you don't remove the factory roof rack to install this mount kit. Great question, thanks for your inquiry.
