Doug, the Smittybilt Defender Rack Welded One Piece Roof Rack will require mounting brackets that attach to the rain gutter of the hardtop. They are located here: http://www.4wd.com/Jeep-Exterior-Parts-Accessories/Defender-Roof-Rack-Mounting-Kit.aspx?t_c=3&t_s=82&t_pt=8875&t_pn=S%2fBDS31-4 If you have a soft top then you will need a rack base like this one: http://www.4wd.com/Jeep-Exterior-Parts-Accessories/SRC-Roof-Rack.aspx?t_c=3&t_s=82&t_pt=3426&t_pn=S%2fB76717 to attach it to the vehicle. Do i have to drill into the hard top on a JK? Or can i purchase the rain gutter clamp?
