Installed and within second door opening the thread broke in the slot I had selected, Now I am stuck with a door that opens wider than I need.
Fell apart after 10 days. Extremely poor quality, poor stitching, ends fraying ...just junk.
I really needed these adjustable straps since the OE straps allow the door to swing way too far out. When I first took the Jeep out, I banged a couple of cars in parking lots before I was able to catch the door. I installed both Smittybilt straps within a few hours after I received them in the mail. The construction of the straps involves several stitched squares with diagonal cross stitching. The squares are spaced about an inch apart. These spaces are where the posts on the door and the door facing are fitted to perform the stop action. I fitted both straps to stop the doors at about 80-90º. Both straps stripped out the stitching the first time the door was allowed to swing open. Not very strong thread. I could call and have them replaced, but I don't think replacements would be any better. I plan to re-stitch them by hand with much stronger thread and with many extra stitches.
