Dusty trail rides and deep water fordings, anyone who takes their Jeep off-road is likely to encounter these conditions someday. The new Modular XHD Snorkel System from Rugged Ridge relocates the vulnerable stock air intake location to help reduce dust clogged filters and the risk of hydro-locking your engine. It is the first and currently only snorkel designed with the modular functionality of a pre-filter Low Mount and Ram High Mount air intake design. Unlike other snorkels, you dont have to give up flexibility for functionality. The Modular XHD Snorkel System comes standard with a Low Mount pre-filter and the Ram High Mount extension. The Low Mount pre-filter relocates the intake below the windshield, drawing cool air from outside the hot engine bay. The Ram High Mount extension moves the intake up an additional 21" to the top of the windshield. The two air intake mounts are easily interchangeable to give you the modular functionality best suited to your needs. The system is manufactured from durable heavy gauge plastic, mandrel bent aluminum and hi-temp silicone connecting hoses. The built-in manual drain valves channel away excess water to prevent it from entering the intake system. This snorkel installs with minor modifications to the fender, but without the major cutting and surgery that other kits require. The new lower air cleaner box installs in place of the factory unit, so you dont have to "hack and tap".
Do not attempt to install this snorkel kit unless you are advanced, creative, patient and have an extra set of hands available. The process took about 6 hours to install. You will require some extra tools that you may not have in in your tool box. You will also have to buy extra items to complete the install successfully. Sealant, Super Glue, Self Tapping Screws, Black Satin Spray Paint, Factory touch up paint and painters tape. You will need to be creative on the install to get the body lines correct. I had the hardest time getting the cowl properly aligned with the hood. Also plan on spending time on beating on your exhaust heat shield with a hammer. You will not successfully install without hammering on it. I had to buy some piping straps to tie down the intake tube for proper body line fitment. Overall the look is amazing and hopefully it functions as expected.
This thing is awesome. Ordered it on Sunday and got it Thursday with standard free shipping. Instructions were very detailed and well thought out with good pictures (for the most part). Took a while to instal so make sure you set a side a whole day to do it or you will be working on it till 2:30 AM. This thing looks awesome and beleive it or not I actually gained about 2 mpg. Haven't tested the watertight integrity yet but with the amount of RTV and rubber and hose clamps on this I feel like the Jeep will float before it becomes hydrolocked.
I have a 2014 JKU and I was wondering if this is compatible or not? Or if there is a kit I can also buy to make it compatible? Thank you

George, Unfortunately the Rugged Ridge Modular XHD Snorkel Kit is only designed to work with the factory intake. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Hi, I am planning on buying this snorkel. This means my secondary lights will no longer fit. What kind of supports or lights do I need to buy so they fit once the snorkel is installed?

Hello, With this snorkel the only option you can use is a hood light mount or move the lights to above the windshield frame. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask, Thank you.
