This locking gas cap door from Rugged Ridge creates a custom look in just a few minutes. This special design fits directly over the existing gas cap opening. They are specially treated to resist blemishes caused by gasoline or other hazardous chemicals. These covers install over the top of your factory gas cap into existing mounting points. No drilling required.

'' Prep aluminum before paint, DUH!!!"
I bought this cap for my brother's 2013 JK on 9/12 and 5 months later the paint peels off as seen in the pics and or video. RUG won't do anything about it even exchange it for the stainless steel part of the same price. I like RUG parts but am very disapointed in them for this!!! I suggest you get part #RUG11229-02 if you still trust them. Or get the MOP as I did in 09 and no problems.

Is hatch cover metal or plastic with chrome finish?

when the cover is properly installed-- does the outer edge of the cover stay on the plastic or does it surround it and "seat" against the painted metal of the quarter panel?

Hi Harrison! The outer lip should stay on the plastic inner liner and should not touch the painted metal.
