Why mentioned on technical details "NP231 and 242 transfer cases" works with a transfer 242?? or only for 231

do i have to pull the transfer case out to install this ?

While not required, we have found it is much easier to remove the entire transfer case from the Jeep before installing this SYE kit. You can do it in the Jeep, but it won't be as easy if the case is out.

do I need to buy an extended housing or any thing else besides a drive shaft for this?

Hello! All you need is this Slip Yoke Eliminator Kit and the correct length #RE1898 drive shaft. You will have to measure the length for the drive shaft. Can find the drive shafts here:http://www.4wd.com/search.aspx?kw=re1898 Thanks!
