The Wrangler hood is crafted from hand layed, high temp fiberglass with a low rise carbon fiber center scoop. Identical to the fiberglass edition except the low rise center scoop is made from high quality, hand laid carbon fiber to add an extra element of head turning style. The low rise center scoop offers optimum air flow and heat extraction for added cooling. The hood has a premium quality fit and finish that you won’t find anywhere else and its made in the USA.
Purchased this hood for my 2008 JK Sahara Unlimited after my hood was hailed on...twice! It turned out amazing. The body shop painted the inserts the same color as the body (commando green) and it looks amazing. Great value and great product. Only con would be that the fit isn't perfect. Would probably go with metal in the future vs fiberglass.
What does the finish look like on this hood unpainted? Does it have a clear coat over it or rough weave texture? Is it possible to use the hood unpainted without the elements damaging it? Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

JM, the RK Sport Fiberglass Ram Air Hood will come to you in a fiberglass gelcoat finish. It can be used without paint but won't hold up as well as if it had paint on it. Hope this helps!

what is the weight of this?
Asked by Mike from on
Mike, I wasn't sure of the weight on this Carbon Fiber Ram Air Hood myself so I asked RK Sport and they were nice enough to send me this response (and really quick I might add). ". It weighs 27 lbs, approximately 8 pounds lighter than the stock hood. While our hoods are lighter than stock, we do not promote that as a selling benefit because if a person is looking for weight savings, there are lighter hoods on the market. We made the choice to use a deep resin finish which adds a little weight to the carbon fiber but the appearance and longevity benefits of our marine grade clear coat far outweigh the benefits of the weight savings (in our opinion anyway!)"

what do you mean by heat extractors?
Asked by jeff from phoenix az on
Jeff, when they say "heat extractors" in reference to this Carbon Fiber Ram Air Hood they are talking about ways for the heat to escape from under the hood. Basically they would be vents in the hood.
