Hello, This is taken directly from PSC's Website. The 8200 series conversion steering gear is a direct replacement for the failure prone ZF steering gear that was used on 03-06 Jeep TJ’s and LJ’s. This unit also features a larger piston diameter which increases the torque output of the steering gear. This extra torque is Jeeps to overcome steering issues due to larger tires and / or locking differentials have been installed. The 8200 series is assembled in Texas using all new components and featuring PSC’s exclusive new gear housing. This is not a reworked core housing as the competition uses, this is a 100% new housing that is casted and machined right here in the USA! The SG400 is also offered in a cylinder assist version (SG400R) for vehicles that have 38” + tire size and larger drivelines (Dana 60). The conversion kit also includes a new power steering hose and everything needed for the installation. PSC does recommend the following to maximize performance; High Volume power steering pump to maximize the torque of the steering gear. Pump Kit # PK1852 for Jeeps equipped with the 4.0. Cooler kit to increase life of steering components part# DER13253 or PSC MBC100K Cooler kit to increase life of steering components part# DER13253 or PSC MBC100K

Can this be used without cylinder assist ? Is a variable ratio better then a fixed ratio for a daily driver? Only replacing with factory gear box? For a daily driver? Will it be a lot better than stock? I'm running 35s

Aaron, the PSC Steering Extreme Series Steering Gear can be used with or without hydro assist. As for this box being better than stock it is a worthwhile upgrade especially with 35" tires. It will reduce the amount of turns to get to full lock and also will give you more responsive steering. Hope this helps!
