After half assed fixing a broken handle several times just good enough to get it working for the past two years, I broke down and bought a new paddle. Installed today. Easy install, remove the glass on the door for easier installation. Had to drill out and make larger holes on door mechanisms to fit the handle. No big deal. Seems to work fine so far. Will update if any problems arise.
Ive replaced my driver side black paddle handle 3 times. My doors aren't even in use 8 months out of the year. The other 4 months they are rarely used. The internal parts fail.
These are to replace my current rusted ones, these are the perfect size and will really improve the looks of my wranger. Still need to figure out how to install them though. Looks like you need to remove your inner door panel.
The handle has no spring return to reset the door latch for reclosing. I had to add another spring to the operating mechanism inside the door to perform the necessary task. One unit was binding, and would not free up. I eventually had to re-use the old handles.
Is this the correct part for a 1987 Wrangler with full steel doors?
