Olympic’s Tire Mounts were built after experiencing the O.E.M. tire mount coming apart when larger diameter spare tires were installed. Olympic’s Tire Mounts are made from 1/4 inch steel plate. They bolt into the existing mounting holes on the Wrangler’s tailgate and into the mounting holes on the Olympic 700 and 701 Tire Swings. The 708 is recommended when larger diameter tires are installed with O.E.M and after market bumpers. Without the 708 installed, larger tires hit the top of the rear bumper. The 707 lowers the tire by 2 inch and is recommended to be used on the Olympic Tire Swing. The factory Wrangler JK tire mount that is installed on the tailgate when you buy a new Jeep is made from pot metal an easily cracks when bumped. The Olympic solid steel Tire Mount is a direct replacement that won’t fail.
The mount itself is nice. Heavy steel plate, well painted. But bolts kit came with were wrong thread.Plus, kit only had 4 of them to mount, not 8 to fill all original points. My advice: go to hardware store. Buy black metric call screws, M8x1.25 .. Then get enough to cover all 8 points. Use the flat/lock washers from kit. Also, get some black Craft Foam from a craft store and cut your own gasket to steel from digging into tailgate paint. If you want the 3rd brake light AT ALL, you will need the adapter plate.
It is easy , just place Lug Bolts in pre-drilled mounting holes and hammer them in place.
Had real difficulty installing the lug bolts through the tire carrier. Tried pulling them through with a ratchet and lugnut using a variety of washers as a spacer. Eventually, brought it to the local tire store where it took them 15 minutes using impact wrenches to get them seated (and even then, not very cleanly). Other than that, the rest of the installation was fine, and the carrier is handling a 33" tire plus 2 Mtn. bikes.
What is the max tire diameter this will hold? I have 35 inch mud tires on my 2011 JK with a stock bumper.

i have a 2013 jeep wrangler and it has a brake light attached to it. how would the extended tire mount work with the brake light?

Bullet, if you are going to put a bigger tire ob this Extended Tire Mount I would suggest you also get a 3rd brake light extension. Something like this http://jo.my/brake_light_extension

Hi, just a quick question will this product raise the height of a standard wheel from a standard bumper, because with a caravan attached i cant open the rear tail gate the wheel hits the tow hitch i need to lift the wheel about an inch. Thanks thats for the tyre carrier

Hello! Yes, this tire carrier should raise the tire enough to clear the hitch and bumper. Thanks!
