G2 Rear Axle Kits are made from high tensile alloy steels. These axles are forged and heat-treated for maximum strength. Big Spline options allow you to take advantage of even more added strength, gained from the larger diameter of the shafts. The larger diameter enables the shafts to withstand much higher torsional loads than the stock diameter. With either option, you can be assured that the weakest point of your driveline will not be your axle shafts.
Just installed these in my 78 CJ. They didn't come with threadlocker as instructions said. They do seem well made and installatiin wasn't too bad. After talking to G2 tech support I realized I had to mod the differential, which is not referenced in the instructions. It should be. Hope these last me another 40 years, as did the originals.
Have not got to put this part to the test yet.But looks good so far.Happy with the fast free shipping.
The quality and finish is great. Installation with disc brakes upgrade recommended but very complex even for a professional mechanic with instructions as provided. These upgrades are for the Continental Divide Ride.
Do yourself a favor and have a large press ready to remove your old axle flanges, or be ready to cut off the old bearings after you remove the shafts.
Hi my Name is Ernie I have purchase the G2 axles for my AMC 20 I'm also converting the rear to disc brakes the kit did not come with a dust shield do I really need it with the axles or do I just shim it to make the difference up, or does any one have some sort of plate for that

Ernie, As long as you get the disc brake conversion for the one piece axle kit than the G2 Axle and Gear AMC 20 Narrow Track CJ Rear Chromoly One Piece Axle Kit will work without shimming. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

Hey Xjdriver, this one piece axle kit does not use shims it will use a spacer that comes in the kit. Thanks for your question.

if I was to rebuild the hole rearend what else would I need to purchase to have a complete rebuild on my rear dana 20 and would you recoment changing rear gears also

Hello, This One Piece conversion kit comes with both axle shafts, bearings, inner and outer seals, screw in wheel studs for both sides. As long as your not hearing any grinding or wining sounds from the rear axle you should be fine leaving it be and just change the gear lube. If you do want to change out all the parts in the center axle assembly you would need a Ring and Pinion set and a Differential Bearing installation kit. You can reuse the carrier as long as you keep the same gear ratio. Thank you!
