Detroit Truetrac's proven helical gear design eliminates the need for wearable parts like clutches, resulting in maintenance free traction. Recognized not only for its toughness but also it's smooth and quiet operation. Engineered to work efficiently in front and rear applications. Power transfer is so smooth, it literally goes unnoticed by the driver - even in the front axle. Ideal for front applications and high performance applications.
About 3 years ago, I rebuilt the rear end on my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4.7L with the C9.25 rear end. I did this as a result of plans to change gears from stock 3.55 to 4.10, and I installed this into a truck that his my daily driver as well as an off-road toy. When I installed this, I used the G2 4.10 gears and did not touch the axles, against all warnings from other mechanic friends in the area I lived in. Three years later, ignoring that warning has finally caught up to me. After three years of heavy off-road, mud, and rock climbing abuse, one of the OEM axles did a clean spin to oblivion. When I popped the diff cover off, there was debris and muddy grease in the housing, but the TrueTrac is still looking as new as ever. I would definitely have to say, the absolute greatest feature is the automatic torque biasing. Many times I made it up a mountian or through a mud hole in only 2WD. If you have existing knowledge of assembling rear ends and order the gear/pinion install as well as the install kit for this bad boy, its not too hard and can be done in a day. It is worth every dollar spent. Just be sure to not cut corners and bring your axles up to par.
Not being a serious off-roader, adding Dana 35 TrueTrac to my 97 TJ with a 4 cyl/5 spd made good sense to me... According to my mechanic buddy... easiest unit he'd ever installed. I did order the master install kit as well as a gasket from 4WD Hardware.. Made install super easy and straight forward. I'm guessing if I had time, this install could have been done by me. It functions exactly as it should... Found some loose sand today and left 2 tire marks... Very Happy with product and extremely happy with delivery time from 4WD.
I did recommend this to a friend. and the front end is next. snow, ice, sand, and dirt. with decent tires, I have no compaints
Hi 4wd, I have a 99 Cherokee Sport XJ with stock 3:55 gears. Front Axle: Dana 30 High Pinion (Reverse) Rear Axle: Chrysler 8.25 I am looking to upgrade from my 3:55's to 4:10's, and add TrueTrac front and rear. 1) Is this the correct TrueTrac product for my front axle and expected 4:10 gear setup? 2) I have been reading that upgrading my front axle D30 HP from 3:55 to 4:10 requires purchasing a separate low ratio carrier. Do I still need this additional carrier if I am installing the TrueTrac or does the TrueTrac act as the new carrier? Thanks!

Hi Aaron The Dana 30 TrueTrac takes the place of the stock carrier on the front axle and this is the correct part number for the front axle. Thanks
