why wont this fit a 98 Cherokee?

Hi Sarge! The backing, or header, panel that these buckets attach to changed significantly between 1996 and 1997. These will not mount to your newer style header panel. Unfortunately we don't have a supplier for the newer style that you require. I had the same issue on my Cherokee, and ended up having to find replacements in a salvage yard. You may also try a local dealer and see what they have.

Hello Pete, These Headlight bezels are chrome plated ABS plastic.
