The vaige instructions said it may need calibrated. Didn't show how. I did figure it out, but it would be easier with clear instructions. The picture shows a metal needle, mine was plastic. Also the guage readings/ markings are not the same as the original dial face. It doesn't fit the speedo housing well. Again it works. But would happily pay more for better quality
I replaced the fuel and temperature gauges on my 1986 CJ-7 with these new gauges. They never worked from the moment I put them in, and yes all my grounds are corrct, I even ran a ground from the negative battery terminal to the gauge cluster/body. I put back the 10 year old fuel gauge and even though it's not accurate, at least it works.
I had to buy two before I got it right. The first one burned out because my tank's sensor consumed to many amps. I put 40 ohm resistor (4x10 ohm) inline to the sensor on my second try and got good results.
I need a fuel gauge for 1991 wrangler yj, will this one interchange with the original. I can't find one that is listed for this year. It is dash mounted.

Hi Judge No the Fuel Gauge will not work but the OAI17210.10 will fit the 1987-1991 models. Thanks

Hello! The factory ohms readings for the YJ Wrangler Fuel sending units are Empty - 1 Ohm, 1/2 - 44 Ohms, Full- 88 Ohms. Thanks!

What is the best way to calibrate this unit?
Asked by JB from on
Hello JB! You don't need to calibrate this fuel gauge because for this model the calibration for the ohms is done at the sending unit, not the gauge.
