This kit is used when there is no front shock in the stock location to limit the droop travel.
With no shock acting as the droop limiter, the upper control arm becomes the droop limiter which transfers that load causing premature wear to the upper ball joint. When running a dual shock hoop setup in the front of these vehicles, typically a stock location shock is not used, therefore this limit strap kit should be added.
It is a bolt in installation but requires holes to be drilled to mount the upper end, and there is adjustability built in to fine tune the length to control the droop limit.
