Body Armors new sculpted design is compact to the body to maximize departure angles. 3/16" steel plate for strength. Machined pivot shaft for the swing arm. Reinforced gusseted mounting plates enhance the strength of the bumper. Double D- ring mounting points for recovery points. The bumper is notched to retain the factory trailer hitch preserving the Jeeps towing capability. Easy bolt on installation. Requires the purchase of part number B/A5294 swing arm tire carrier.
i have owned this bumper for over a year and i can say its not that bad but right away experienced alignments with swing arm and would open up on highway!!! after getting a new part from body armor still run into issues. ps learn to use your side mirrors visuals out the back are minimal
Very well constructed and looks great on my Red Jk. Poor Instruction where I had many screws and bolts with no place to put them. I called the factory in Corona, CA and they were very willing to discuss my challenges. The instructions dictate one thing about use of exist bolts but the factory said not to pay any attention to that??? IMHO; Care should be given so that what you ship is appropriate for the year, make & model with out leading the consumer down a dark path. The instructions are very brief with not enough illustrations. More pictures would have saved me, I think... I had to purchase bolts to fit the lug nuts in order to mount the spare tire.
Bought this to replace the stock JK rear after tearing it mostly off on a stump. New B/A is solid and tight to the body which leaves much less bumper to smash down on rocks and yes... stumps. Only issue is it is real tight against the stock plate holder. Doesn't mention anything in the directions about modifying the plate holder so used a jack to lift the bumper to get the final bolt in. Awaiting the swing arm which is currently on back order. Overall very happy with the purchase.
Why do you say in a previous answer that the stock spare tire carrier will only carry a 33" tire? Is it because anything over 33 on the stock carrier wont fit with this bumper? Or because that's all that the stock carrier is rated for? I'm currently carrying a 35" tire on my stock carrier and have had no problems....

Hi Chicago Eric, This Body Armor 4x4 Rear Bumper is just the bumper without a tire carrier. According to Jeep the OEM tire carriers that mount on the tailgate are designed to hold spares no larger than 33" to avoid pulling on and bending the tailgate. Thanks for your inquiry.

I want this bumper but without the tire carrier. Does this version of the bumper still have the latch mount and post receiver for the tire carrier? Is it smooth without those pieces on top of the bumper? Can you post a photo? 2012 Jeep JKU

Hello JP, This bumper only comes with the tire carrier. However, it can be removed.

Body Armor 4x4 produces extreme off-road equipment for Jeeps and trucks. The company was founded in the 1990s in Corona, California. Body Armor engineers its products to withstand the abuse of the trail over and over while personalizing the look of your rig. Body Armor popular products include Jeep bumpers with integrated winch plates and multiple light mounting points, Trail doors that are predrilled for aftermarket mirrors plus thick nylon webbing to protect passengers from scraping branches and a very secure two position latch, plus rock steps that also function as sliders. All Body Armor parts are built for durability with a dual process powdercoat oversprayed with a textured finish and undersprayed with an e-coat. So corrosion resistance is quite strong.
