The Sailcloth Replace-a-tops takes the award-winning formula of Replace-a-top, and adds in heavier sailcloth fabric. Sailcloth tops are the quietest soft tops on the market. The secret to this Jeep soft top lies in the unique multi-ply Sailcloth fabric. Each ply plays a different role, but together they reflect road sounds, absorb wind noise, and prevent buffeting to create a silencing effect that absolutely must be heard to be believed.
The Bestop Replace-a-top is the only replacement top featuring the patented Belt Rail attachment system and is designed to fit right over the factory hardware for easy installation and returns to its original shape and tautness. The Replace-a-top also features factory-spec velcro, thread, webbing, and door seals. Plus oversized zippers, DOT approved windows, and a rear attachment system that lets you open your tailgate without having to open your rear window. The Replace-a-top consists of fabric only and fit only factory-original hardware.
Received this top and attempted to put it on. The zippers are seen unevently onto the quarter windows, making them difficult to zip in. More importantly though, the zipper on the top which zips onto the quarter window is sewn starting too far forward on one side of the top I received, so the channel on the B pillar doesn't line up (and will never reach where it has to zip on in the rear). Nobody takes pride in quality control at bestop.
The material is great, and the top is a piece of cake to install, but it's way to loose on the top and sides. Water pools on this top, which it did not do on the factory top. I would not recommend buying this to anyone. Also there are zipper marks pressed into the rear window... very dissatisfied
I think that the sailcloth top is a better top. The only problem that I had was when it rained, it would pool with a mini lack on top of the soft top.
It is a good top. Much better than a factory top
Not happy doesn't fit tight sags in front collects water. For the price you think it would fit better.
Bought this top after doing a lot of research. It seems to be one of the best tops available, and was leagues above the Pavement Ends top that came on my jeep when I bought it. Fabric is good, fit is perfect, and the door seal is great on the soft uppers. The only problem is this thing STINKS, literally. It smells like inflatable rafts you use in the pool, I suspect it's the plastic windows. I have been riding with the windows open for a week or two and it is still smells strongly of plastic/chemicals. I'm hoping the smell will subside in a while.
Top fits well & is easy to install
EASY TO INSTALL - LOOKS GREAT
I got my top around 2:00 and had it completely installed by 4:00pm. This was my first time replacing a top on my 02 TJ. I read the instructions and watched the installation video on Best Tops website while I let the top warmup in the sun. I had it on and driving within an hour. It fits nice and snug. It is very quiet. I can hear my soundbar very well now. I really like the tinted windows. They definitely dress up the look of my TJ. They recommend using a shoehorn for the doors, but I was able to get them on relatively quickly. They are a tight fit, but not impossible to do. My TJ header has 14 screw holes and the top only had 8 cutouts. I installed all 14 screws by lining up the header holes and pulling the top tight as I screwed it down. I don't think I needed all 14, I just wanted all 14 in it. I have read other reviews that had complaints about wrinkling. I got mine very tight and have no wrinkles after letting it set in the sun for 1 day. All in all I would say it is well worth the money and I will definitely get another one when this one needs to be replaced.
I have a 1997 tj wrangler sport. Will it fit my jeep.

The 4 ply material would be equal to what mill thickness ? What is the window thickness ( mill ) ?
Asked by Dave from South Centrak Ky. on
Hi Dave, This Bestop Sailcloth Tinted Replace-a-top without Doors does not have miil thickness specs from the manufacturer on the material, however the windows are heat sealed 30-mil DOT approved vinyl. Thanks for your inquiry.

Hello, I have a 2011 2dr Sport which presently has a mis-match soft top frame. Its a Mopar frame with Bestop door surrounds, tailgate bar etc. I do not know the year of frame that I have as I purchased it used. Does that have an effect on the compatibility with this replace a top product? Thank you, I look forward to your response. Katie
Asked by Katie from Ontario on
Hi Katie, This Bestop Sailcloth Tinted Replace-a-Top is designed for the 2 door Jeeps from 2011 and newer since it does not use the "cable type" attachment and door surrounds. It's difficult to verify how this top will fit without knowing what year and version of door surrounds and bow bars you have, but it's not for the cable style down the sides. Thanks for your inquiry.
