This bumper adds a new look to my '12 Wrangler - and even with a large local population of Jeeps it is a distinctive upgrade. I was disappointed in the instructions. It said nothing about having to relocate the vacuum pump that is bolted to a welded bracket on the frame rail (12 and 13 models I believe); and I also discovered that the drop down winch mount would not accommodate the Warn Zeon winch I had also ordered (winch hits the frame rails). This is a heavy bumper - get several large friends to help with the install. But since now it's all installed, I do like the appearance. Wish I had ordered the one with the bull bar.
can the recovery shackle eyes be used to attach a tow bar, for flat towing behind an RV? Smitty mentions this use and sells a tow bar for the purpose - with the proviso that it be used only with Smitty bumpers - but none of the other bumper manufacturers seem to be interested in this as a selling point. Is this use a bad idea, or is Smitty just ahead of the curve?

While the recovery shackles on the R-SE Rigid Full Front Bumper may serve as a good location to attach a tow bar, the manufacturer list these eyes as recovery use only (not tow rated.) Because of this, we can't recommend that it be used for such purposes. We offer a variety of tow bars that include drill-in mounting locations that you may be interested in. Please see the following link: http://www.4wd.com/search.aspx?kw=tow+bar I hope this information is helpful. Thanks!
