This short shaft kit, or slip yoke eliminator, with the new, heavy duty shaft is engineered to withstand the increased torque (50% increase) generated by extreme reduction of the Tera Low231.
The kit also eliminates the need to lower the transfer case in most cases by increasing the rear drive shaft length by four inches. It includes a larger output bearing and rear housing.
I installed a three inch lift kit on my 1999 jeep Cherokee, now it has a new noise that sounds like it is the transfer case. When I purchased the kit I thought I was told no other kits or items were required. The transfer kit was recommended for kits of 4 + inches, and I suspect it is needed. How can I determine the correct drive shaft length or is it a one fits all?

Hello Mike, When determining drive shaft length the way I like to determine the length is setting up my SYE and measuring from the yoke on the transfer case to the yoke on the rear axle. That way you get the right driveshaft the 1st time. You didn't mention what type of lift kit you purchased and if there was any type of transfer case drop. That would be a more cost effective option. Sometimes you have to get leaf spring shims to adjust the pinion angle as well. If you need any assistance with this please give me a call.
