how do i change both knobs. whitch way do i turn them and the lock nut. please.

Hello! This M20 Transfer Case shift knob screws on to the right. To take it off you unscrew it to the left. The shifter lever is only threaded in one direction so the lock nut would thighten to the right and loosen to the left same as the shifter knob. This would apply to the transfer case and the transmission knob. Thank you!
