Overview

Consider this: polyethylene gas tanks meet tough military specs, won't crack even when the mercury hits 100 degrees below zero and of course, do not rust like metal tanks. These oversize 21 gallon capacity tanks adapt easily to your original 15 gallon original skidplate. Kits include skid plate extension brackets for use of stock skid plate and a longer center strap to keep the tank in place. Also included are: new O-ring and lock ring. NOTE: 1. It is recommended that the bottom of the fuel tank does not hang down below the centerline of the rear axle. Sagging or broken springs should be replaced/ repaired as necessary to raise the vehicle to at least the stock height. 2. The manufacturer does not recommend modifying the sending unit float. The stock sending unit and pick up tube is short, thus giving you a false reading on your fuel gauge. The gauge will read full when the tank is full and empty approximately 6 gallons of gas remaining in the tank. You will need to purchase a new sending unit, part #2578XL for use with the 0050XL and 0051XL 21 gallon poly tanks to make installation easy and give you a correct fuel reading. The stock fuel filter can be used with this unit. 1970-75 models must use 15 gallon skid plate, part #7075. 1976-77 models must use original 15 gallon skid plate or part #5357023.

This gas tank includes the sending unit already installed.
